Sattler is ticking boxes on his CV regarding BiH's European path

(Patria) - Reading the interviews and other media appearances of Johann Sattler, who acts under two 'hats' as Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and as the European Union's Special Representative, in which he explains the next steps that should lead to the start date of accession negotiations, we cannot help but ask an important question. Is he making such statements on the verge of truth to complete his diplomatic CV with additional 'ticks' for supposedly well-done work, or is he still just a mere supporter of the 'champions of European integration', more precisely Dragan Čović and the HDZ?

Ambassador Sattler says, regarding the next steps, that Bosnia and Herzegovina again has
'only' 8 (eight) steps, somewhat different from the previous 8, and once they are fulfilled, the 'Negotiating Framework' will be drafted, which would lead to an Intergovernmental Conference, the symbolic and formal date for the start of negotiations, writes Patria.

At first glance, the story sounds great, our country is there, near the date for the start of negotiations, only the reality or the truth that Sattler regularly omits is very different. The first thing he says is that the 'green light' was obtained due to some merits of the domestic authorities, whether it was the now-famous untruth 'more was done in the past year than in the previous ten', while the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, clearly stated at a press conference that the decision was made based on the current geopolitical context in Europe, without mentioning reforms at all. One of them is definitely not telling the truth.

The second issue is the content of the decision itself. The European Council's website clearly states that the 'Negotiating Framework' will be considered when all necessary steps from the European Commission's Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina of October 12, 2022, are taken, which is the only document on that date. This image clearly shows this, which speaks about the European Commission's Report of October 12, 2022:

Whereas in the conclusions of the European Council, the word 'Report' is abruptly changed to 'Recommendations' of the European Commission, which again tries to soften the narrative, although it is actually unclear what those recommendations are, as stated in this excerpt from the European Council's conclusions:

And then Ambassador Sattler goes public, talking about 8 recommendations, presumably those that were a reduced version of the 14 key priorities from the European Council's decision on granting candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, although Sattler's 8 and the European Council's 8 from 2022 are completely different things. Moreover, the European Council's website mentions the European Commission's Report of October 12, 2022, which contains about a hundred recommendations, which should be the 'Recommendations' as stated in the modified European Council conclusions, but Sattler's famous 8 are not mentioned, writes Patria.

Therefore, Ambassador Sattler's intention is clear: to cheer for himself a little, filling his diplomatic CV with new 'ticks' for a supposedly successful job, and to cheer for the HDZ and neighboring Croatia a little, because so far the term 'Screening' has not been mentioned, which should, among other things, offer an answer to the fundamental question: can Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized in this way with ethnic divisions and an ethnic-entity decision-making system, even move forward in European integration?

We know the answer is that such a thing is not possible, but on the other hand, the intention of neighboring 'friendly' Croatia is clear: to push exactly such a Bosnia and Herzegovina, with ethnic divisions (constituent peoples), into the European Union system, so that this same Croatia can continue to harass the Bosnian public over the Election Law according to their wishes, through which they intend to usurp Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty for their benefit. That is why 'Screening', as an indispensable step after candidate status, is obviously intentionally not mentioned, just as the six judgments of the European Court of Human Rights are not mentioned. Of course, the Trojka, with its 'compromises' and 'agreed-upon talks', does not see this or does not want to see it, with the help of the alleged compliments from Sattler and his employers from Brussels.

Presumably, they all think that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a land of 'stupid Bosnians' and 'useful idiots' so they can do whatever they want. To their misfortune, Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a land of stupid people, on the contrary, but useful idiots can be found every now and then. When some foreign factor needs them, for their own diplomatic career.
