Sattler: Dodik creates new facts on the ground, Bosnian Serbs working against EU accession

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Johann Sattler commented on the political crisis in BiH and the boycott of joint institutions by representatives from the RS, saying he does not rule out the possibility of the EU reacting to rising tensions.

"There are different ways to react to this. Financial grants are one possibility to clearly indicate that something is against the rules." Sattler said there is a de facto blockade of the highest and most important institutions in BiH, he told Tanjug.

"We have a blockade of the Presidency, the parliament and the Council of Ministers. Nothing is progressing. The actions of Bosnian Serbs are not only against the rules, but also contrary to the requirements for EU accession," Sattler stated.

In this regard, he reminded that a common economic space should be created, while obstacles in trade between the entities still exist.

"What we are seeing is something that goes in a completely different direction. That is why there are means and ways to clearly demonstrate this," Sattler emphasized.

The EU representative says that Milorad Dodik is trying to create new facts on the ground, although nothing has happened yet, reports BN.

"This could also be seen as his attempt to force the other side, i.e. the Bosniaks, to the negotiating table. He indicates that he does not know if such a thing would be possible in such an atmosphere," he concluded.
