Prime Minister of the FBiH Fadil Novalić and Federal Minister for Veterans and Disabled Persons of the Defense-Liberation War Salko Bukvarević met today at the seat of the Government of the FBiH with representatives of military pensioners.
According to the President of the Association of Military Pensioners Nihad Šehović, officials of the Government of the FBiH assessed their demands as justified and announced amendments to the current Law on More Favorable Early Retirement, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
He explained that it was agreed that these amendments should be made before the adoption of the framework law on pension and disability insurance, and that the Government will form an interdepartmental group at one of the upcoming sessions, which will, together with representatives of the associations, draft a proposal for amendments to the law.
Šehović said that a meeting with representatives of the World Bank and the IMF should be held next week, where they would explain how the necessary funds could be secured.
Federal Minister Salko Bukvarević said that they understood that these military insured persons were unjustifiably classified with all other categories and that a solution must be found for them that would not significantly breach the budget.
He specified that a total of 4,700 military insured persons need to be returned to the pension fund system, and the interdepartmental group will also calculate the necessary funds before the law is sent for further procedure, which, after being adopted, will not be applied retroactively.
