Meeting at the Presidency: There are strong domestic and international mechanisms for the protection of BiH, peace and security

(Patria) - BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt, Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH Luigi Soreca, heads of diplomatic missions of the member states of the Peace Implementation Council (United States of America, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Turkey, Republic of Italy, Japan and Canada), Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Commander of the European Forces (EUFOR) in BiH, Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo and ambassadors of the Kingdom of Spain and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who regularly attend PIC Steering Board meetings.

During the meeting, the most dangerous attacks on the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, orchestrated by Milorad Dodik and his followers, were discussed.



BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović warned that we are witnessing extremely aggressive attacks on the constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The rule of law is the foundation of a democratic society, in which untouchable individuals cannot exist, and court decisions must be respected. The judicial system is the pillar of every democratic state, and its independence and integrity must remain unquestionable.

There are strong domestic and international mechanisms for the protection of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, peace and security. Adventuristic policies of undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement can cause unforeseeable consequences in the country and the region. Unilateral decisions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, dictated by Milorad Dodik, are an attack on peace, security, and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

All participants in the meeting expressed a unified stance on the causes of the current crisis, and emphasized the importance of unity among all international actors and joint action in ensuring full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH. Their assessment is that the attack by the authorities of the BiH entity of Republika Srpska on the constitutional and legal order, in addition to endangering peace and security, causes enormous damage to all peoples and citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was highlighted that the decisions made and laws adopted in the NSRS have practically blocked Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to full membership in the EU, as they are incompatible with the European agenda.

Furthermore, all attendees at the meeting emphasized their support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They warned that they will not tolerate attempts to undermine the Dayton Peace Agreement and that they will take all necessary steps to ensure respect for the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović once again pointed out that the international community has a clear mandate and all the necessary mechanisms to stop anti-Dayton and anti-constitutional policies. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina expect the international community to show determination in protecting the Dayton Peace Agreement and the legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this regard, readiness should also be shown for the engagement of strong military forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in strategically important locations.

Threats to the institutions and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina could have serious implications for the status of Brčko District. In this context, particular attention was drawn to the statement of the Brčko Supervisor, Louis Crishock, who warned that endangering the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its institutions could lead to a review of the Final Arbitral Award for Brčko.

Finally, Bećirović emphasized that the protection of peace and the state is a common task for both domestic authorities and the international community.
