Meeting of SNSD and PDP: Borenović rejected the position offered by Dodik in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of the PDP Branislav Borenović said after the meeting of delegations of the PDP and SNSD that the PDP is the opposition in the Republika Srpska, but that the party showed maturity to hold talks and confirmed that Milorad Dodik offered him a position in the Council of Ministers, but expressed satisfaction that an agreement was reached on the Election Law, which is one of the political goals of the PDP, the PDP announced.

"It is true that the SNSD offered me a ministerial position, and that I refused it, not everything has to be in the interest of the position, but in the interest of citizens. I am glad that we agreed on the Election Law. We agreed on a kind of parliamentary oversight over the work of the public service of the RS. We will try to bring order to political parties as well. It is true that there are no parliamentary commissions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which means that the Parliament will not be able to work. We expect the Council of Ministers to be formed as soon as possible. After a long time, we are aware that decisions of interest to citizens need to be harmonized, regardless of whether we are in power or opposition, there is no vanity here," said Borenović.

Borenović said that it is very important that the PDP and SNSD reached a consensus today regarding the Election Law and that it would be good for that law to be adopted in a non-election year in order to prevent electoral manipulation.

"After 10 years, these two parties sat down and talked, which I consider significant for democracy. We are an opposition party, the SNSD is in power, but we showed that kind of political maturity to talk about joint institutions at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also about the view of the political situation of these two parties," said Borenović.

President of the SNSD Milorad Dodik stated that they are interested in entering the government with the PDP at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that they will receive a response from them next week.

After the meeting of party delegations, Dodik said that he offered Borenović a position in the Council of Ministers, but that he refused it.

Discussions were held on jointly proposing a new election law of Bosnia and Herzegovina in which the parliamentary mandate would belong to the party, not the individual.
