SDA - HDZ Meeting: The Goal is to Initiate Processes to Get Out of the Deadlock

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - With today's meeting, we tried to initiate some processes to get out of the deadlock we are in.

HDZ leader Dragan Čović said this today in Sarajevo, after the meeting of SDA and HDZ at the level of party presidents and delegations.

“I will not deal with deadlines for the implementation of what has been agreed, because whenever I set a deadline, something happens. For the realization of what we have allowed, we will need a third partner,” Čović said.

Neither Čović nor the SDA leader specified when the government at the BiH and Federation level would be formed.

Čović says they agreed to try to resolve everyday issues that are pending.

He adds that the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdić, informed them that there are many agreements in the BiH Parliament awaiting signature.

SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović said that the goal of today's meeting was better cooperation between SDA and HDZ.

“Regarding the appointment of the new government structure, we agreed that the way out is the implementation of the agreement from August 5. We expect the candidate for prime minister to come up with a work plan. We also agreed to unblock the work of the BiH Parliament as soon as possible,” Izetbegović stated.

He announced a focus on everyday problems.

“We will particularly focus on ensuring that every problem related to the economy and construction is promptly resolved. The federal level of government will be functional, and we expect some previous laws, such as the law on contributions, to be resolved,” said the SDA leader.

He added that not everyone should stick to their previous positions.

“If we respected the Constitution and laws, we would solve the citizens' concerns. As for the ANP, we said that everything that is acceptable to NATO is acceptable to us. Even some minimal things. Excessive stubbornness and ultimatums have led us here. I hope we will not wait two years, but resolve things in the next two months,” Izetbegović points out.

He adds that foreigners initiated today's meeting, hosted by HDZ.

Čović announced a meeting for tomorrow between the leadership of the House of Peoples and the Head of the EU Delegation, Johann Sattler.
