MEETING WITH CIKOTIĆ: Move migrants out of populated and urban areas

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić chaired a working meeting in Sarajevo, which discussed measures for more efficient management of illegal migration, ensuring adequate accommodation for migrants, and improving security and other living conditions for the local population.

In addition to representatives of the BiH Ministry of Security, representatives of the European Union Delegation to BiH, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the BiH Service for Foreigners' Affairs also participated in the meeting. Given that the Una-Sana Canton and the City of Bihać are most burdened by the migrant crisis, the meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister of USC Mustafa Ružnić, USC Police Commissioner Mujo Koričić, and Mayor of Bihać Šuhret Fazlić.

The focus was on finding solutions for controlling the movement and stay of migrants during the upcoming winter.

Concrete conclusions were reached regarding the implementation of the BiH Presidency's conclusions on moving migrants out of populated and urban areas into specially constructed facilities.

By ensuring adequate conditions for migrant accommodation and better control of their movement, security conditions for the local population will be improved, and the pressure of migrants on municipalities in the western part of BiH will be reduced.
