(Patria) - A meeting of representatives of the Government, the Association of Employers of FBiH, and trade unions on the minimum wage for 2026 will be held at the FBiH Government today.
It is expected that the decision on its amount should be known by December 20, so that employers can also plan their budgets for the next year.
Any agreements and conclusions adopted today will be presented at the next session of the Economic and Social Council (ESV) of FBiH.
Currently, the proposals of the trade unions and employers differ. The trade union proposes a minimum wage of 1,200 KM, while employers state that everyone must be responsible in order to maintain jobs without major market disruptions. This year, a decrease in jobs was recorded compared to December 2024. The decision on a minimum wage of 1,000 KM has been applied since January, and prior to that, there was a ban on Sunday work in retail. Approximately 2,000 jobs were lost in the retail sector alone.
At the next session of the Economic and Social Council, it should be known whether the FBiH Government is prepared to extend the decrees on assistance to private employers, as well as on non-taxable monthly assistance from employers to employees. Since July 2025, contributions for pension and disability insurance (PIO) and health insurance have been reduced, and the Government's plan was to further reduce them from January 2026. Due to the stability of the pension fund, as well as following other strategic laws such as transaction fiscalization, the Government has decided to postpone the deadlines. Thus, a new reduction in contributions could be expected from July 2026.
