Meeting of Representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH and the Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Montenegro

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A bilateral meeting was held today in Sarajevo between the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Marko Jurišić and member of the Board of Directors Nikola Perišić, and the Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Montenegro, represented by Dragan Đukanović, President of the Commission, and Darka Džabasan, Secretary of the Commission. 

The meeting finalized and harmonized the text of the Working Rules and Procedures for the implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation in the Search for Missing Persons between the Government of Montenegro and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, signed on 11 October 2019 in Sarajevo.

These working rules further regulate mutual relations, rights, obligations, as well as the method of joint work of the competent government bodies of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the search for persons listed as missing in armed conflicts on the territory of the former SFRY, in accordance with the regulations of the two states. 

The working procedures also define the process of exchanging available information and documentation relevant to resolving cases of persons listed as missing, as well as the procedure for determining the existence of graves, the process of exhumations and identifications of remains, handover, investigations, joint marking, and financing of activities.

Furthermore, discussions were held on the next steps in the implementation of the Framework Plan for resolving the issue of missing persons in conflicts on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, the working version of the Database and the timing of its publication, cases of mutual interest, particularly cases of missing persons on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, their identification, transfer, and burial of remains of persons found in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose families live in Montenegro.
