PIC Meeting: 'At times it sparked, the most repeated word was compromise'

(Patria) - Representatives of political parties addressed reporters today after the session of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), which was also attended by two troikas, HDZ BiH and HDZ 1990.

SDS President Milan Miličević assessed the gathering as an excellent opportunity to present a different opinion from Republika Srpska at a high level, writes Faktor.

- We used it. The main message is that we do not want to be hostages of any sanctions in investment projects and capital investments. We are here to talk.

Peace, stability, and the European path. Everything else is counterproductive. I am not overly optimistic, but I deny any guilt of the three political parties from RS because it is attributed to us when it comes to amending the Election Law.

There is not much time to open the process, adopt European laws and the budget. Compromises must be made that do not endanger anyone. I fear that we are running out of time - says Miličević.

He adds that the opposition from RS is "a reasonable part of politics that wants progress for all who live in BiH".

BiH SDP leader Nermin Nikšić said that the opposition parties from RS show a commendable level of commitment, understanding, and readiness to work together on resolving open issues.

- I said earlier that it is not fair to push the hot potato into their hands. They are not the ones who should deliver the Election Law.

We, the Trojka, or we as SDP, are responsible for the absence of the Election Law, and I will not put the burden on anyone else, because we cannot accept the principles of the Election Law that will not resolve the issues of implementing the decisions of the Court in Strasbourg alongside the Constitutional Court of BiH - said Nikšić.

He states that compromise does not mean giving up all the principles they have been fighting for over the years.

NiP President Elmedin Konaković assessed the meeting as very good.

- Bosnia and Herzegovina is boiling, but also unraveling. An important theory. The Trojka has started to unblock, not block, processes.

The Trojka started to exclude SNSD when it publicly and loudly stated that there would be no EU path, when Dodik told us that in this way identities are lost, that the identity of RS is disappearing - said Konaković.

He emphasizes that they then found braver partners and embarked on a difficult struggle.

- Today it was very good that the international community could see what at times sparked in the hall - Konaković points out.

PDP President Draško Stanivuković believes that today's meeting was important.

- The stance coming from SNSD, that one should not be present here, is wrong. We believe it is wise to hear the stance from RS. If you are not where discussions are held and someone else speaks on behalf of RS, that is wrong.

We said that Dayton is the foundation, and peace is everything. That is the direction we should move in. We, the legitimately elected representatives from RS, have done everything in our power to unblock the institutions at the BiH level.

That is the interest of Serbs and every nation. At this meeting, we said that there are no problems from RS. We understand HDZ and the Croatian people, but without an agreement in FBiH, there is nothing. And we discussed that.

What is important is that certain public advocacy for sanctions against RS and its citizens, we said - do not do that, the people are not guilty. The people should not suffer for any decision of the ruling structures - says Stanivuković.

What encouraged him, he says, is that it will not go in that direction.

- If someone takes actions that harm peace, stability, life, and coexistence, let there be individual collective responsibility - Stanivuković stated.

HDZ 1990 President Ilija Cvitanović emphasizes that at today's meeting, they tried to hear from the PIC representatives what the solution to the current situation is.

- As far as I understood, the positions are relatively identical. What remains are difficult political issues that are clearly articulated. In FBiH, amendments to the Election Law.

My impression is that there was serious understanding for that position. If we do not resolve this immediately after the summer, we will only have additional tensions - adds Cvitanović.

He says that the unblocking of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament was also discussed.

- The most repeated word at today's meeting was 'compromise'. I did not feel the possibility of the High Representative acting - said Cvitanović.

MP in the NSRs and leader of the List for Justice and Order Nebojša Vukanović says that he spoke without hesitation about the hypocrisy of Dragan Čović, whom he identified as "most responsible for the crisis" in which BiH finds itself.

- It is superfluous to talk about Milorad Dodik, he is a story told long ago. The way Dragan Čović, with the quiet resistance within HDZ, especially within the Croatian people, covers Dodik's back and keeps us in a kind of blockade is unbelievable - said Vukanović.

He points out that a solution exists and that it is in the hands of Čović and Borjana Krišto.

He emphasized that the Minister of Security, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, can be appointed as early as this week, thus unblocking the work of the Council of Ministers.

- The message I heard from all representatives of the international community is that Milorad Dodik has crossed the red line, that he is a putschist, an usurper who has violated the Constitution and that there is no discussion with him - said Vukanović.

The addresses of HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović and Our Party leader Edin Forto were absent.
