(Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to consider the Bill on Amendments to the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its session scheduled for today, which was proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH in the second reading.
The Constitutional-Legal Committee of the House of Peoples supported the proposed law in the second committee phase, with two amendments adopted.
The session is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
Otherwise, ahead of this session, the President of the HJPC, Halil Lagumdžija, sent a letter to the OHR stating that these amendments were not coordinated with the HJPC nor do they reflect the stance of the Venice Commission.
Regardless of these amendments, the authorities have committed to adopting a completely new law on the HJPC within a year.
Today, the leaders of the parties forming the state coalition will also meet to discuss open issues. Among them is certainly the security situation, especially in the entity of RS, where Bosniak returnees are frequently attacked.
As announced by the President of the SDP, Nermin Nikšić, they will demand that the RS authorities protect the returnees.
