Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković questioned over cancellation of Western Balkans Leaders' Summit

(Patria) - The questioning of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, has begun before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the cancellation of the Western Balkans Leaders' Summit, which was supposed to be held in Neum on December 5, 2024.

The summit was cancelled after a complaint from one of the companies selected for the event's organization, whose contract was awarded to the company "Mindset", owned by the daughter of a friend of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordan Memija.

The decision for a public hearing was made at the 23rd session of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH, held on December 17, 2024, and is based on Article 10 of the Law on Parliamentary Oversight and the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives.

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers was also supposed to be questioned, but she informed the Committee this morning that she would not attend. The Committee may therefore initiate proceedings regarding accountability.
