Saša Magazinović one of the founders of GOPAC in BiH

The President of the Main Board of SDP BiH and Member of Parliament in the BiH Parliament, Saša Magazinović, signed the founding Charter of GOPAC (Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption), thus becoming one of the founders of the branch of this international network in Bosnia and Herzegovina, SDP announced, writes Patria.

Acknowledging the recommendations of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers on combating corruption (GRECO), convinced that corruption is not only a local but a transnational phenomenon that affects all societies and economies, making international cooperation in its prevention and suppression necessary, and recognizing the importance of parliamentarians uniting on joint projects, a group of parliamentarians from both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH decided on joint engagement and the establishment of a GOPAC branch in our country.

This parliamentary group, which will operate on the principles of voluntariness, democracy, transparency, and the prohibition of discrimination on any grounds, will bring together parliamentarians and other interested parties, regardless of their political affiliation, with the aim of combating corruption, improving the legal framework in this area, and ensuring a high standard of integrity in the public sector.

The goals of the GOPAC branch are the prevention and fight against corruption, promoting the principles of transparency and accountability in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to ensure broad standards of integrity, and especially the realization of the Global Organization's objectives related to establishing standards of conduct to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance, promoting the rule of law and accountability of government institutions, and promoting measures aimed at effectively addressing corruption issues and raising awareness of the problem of corruption at all levels of society.

Magazinović emphasized that the formation of the GOPAC branch places Bosnia and Herzegovina in the company of over 50 countries and more than 700 parliamentarians worldwide who have joined this global network with the aim of cooperation and joint work in the fight against corruption at the national, regional, and global levels.
