Šarović-Satler: Continue Working on Reforms

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović received the newly appointed Special Representative of the European Union for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, with whom he discussed the need to continue accelerated work on initiated reforms and European integration.

At the meeting, a joint assessment was made that significant progress has been made in the mandate of Minister Šarović in fulfilling EU standards and requirements, and that, despite obstacles, accelerated work should continue, especially on important reform issues.

“Currently, in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, we have 16 quality reform regulations ready, which, although prepared in detail, have been waiting for adoption for a long time simply due to the inability to reach a consensus among all government structures. There is no reason or justification for the BiH Parliament not to work, as this hinders us and unfortunately causes us to be overtaken by many surrounding countries,” stated Minister Šarović.

The Head of the European Commission delegation assessed the work of Minister Šarović as “very productive,” emphasizing that in the past period “there have been many success stories that need to be continued.” The meeting discussed key strategies that Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted so far and the need for further effective cooperation and assistance from the European Commission in resolving remaining issues important for accelerated progress.
