Šarović: Project documentation is completed, more time is needed for property-legal relations

A meeting was held in Sarajevo regarding the construction of the Bratunac-Ljubovija border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, writes Patria agency.

After the meeting, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović and Director of the Indirect Taxation Authority Miro Džakula addressed the journalists.

- Seven million KM of funds obtained from the clearing debt will be transferred to the account of the Indirect Taxation Authority, and an additional four million will be provided through the 2018 budget. This will be sufficient for the construction of this border crossing – said Minister Šarović.

Šarović said that the project documentation is completed, but that more time is needed to resolve property-legal relations, which has taken the most time so far.

The minister said that Republika Srpska has completed the necessary documentation, and will make the land available to the Indirect Taxation Authority. The land will remain the property of Republika Srpska, and will be leased for 50 years.

Director of the Indirect Taxation Authority Miro Džakula emphasized that the border crossing is needed as a new value that connects people and facilitates the transport of goods.

- I emphasize this because the Authority has often been the subject of justified criticism, and we are not responsible for them. We cannot do everything, because the border crossings are neglected, no investments have been made in the infrastructure. We are trying to modernize border crossings – Džakula said.
