Šarić: Our Salko made an immeasurable contribution to Sarajevo's economic development

On the occasion of the death of Salko Selimović, Mayor of Sarajevo from 1987 to 1989, recipient of the Sixth of April Award and a respected businessman, a memorial session was held today at the "Bare" Memorial Center, after which he was buried at the Bare cemetery, reports the Patria agency.

Deputy Mayor Ivica Šarić bid farewell to Salko Selimović on behalf of the City and citizens of Sarajevo.

- His work is still an example today of how successful individuals, with their energy, creativity, and dedication, can leave a deep mark on the community in which they live. As an engineer, and later as a manager of large economic systems such as Famos and Energoinvest, our Salko made an immeasurable contribution to the economic growth and development of Sarajevo.

In his speech, Deputy Mayor Šarić particularly emphasized that Mr. Salko Selimović was the Mayor of Sarajevo at a time when dark clouds were already looming over the city and the country, but he did not falter, leaving his mark on the life of the city on the Miljacka.

- We particularly remember his initiatives during the siege to prevent the division of the city, which resonated even at the United Nations - said Šarić.
