Sarajevo residents without water at night: Prepare supplies, ViK crews repairing faults on site

KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija" d.o.o Sarajevo issued a statement informing citizens that due to the situation caused by extremely high temperatures and reduced spring yield, it is necessary to introduce night-time reductions, but that the period from 24:00 to 5h is insufficient to fully replenish the reservoirs. 

-In the coming days, depending on weather conditions, in certain zones the period will be shifted from 23 h to 6 h in the morning. With this regime, we aim to replenish the reservoirs in order to ensure more regular daytime water supply. Alongside this activity, a decision was made to intensify repair works on faults, with reinforced teams including machinery and a redistribution into two shifts.

 

Also, a decision was made to provide additional water tankers for the Zabrđe settlement through the activities of the Civil Protection of the Sarajevo Canton, in addition to the already engaged tankers of „ViK“.

In order to mitigate the consequences of the current situation, which will certainly persist, works on the main „Bačevo“ spring will be intensified. It was decided that tonight during the night shift (Friday to Saturday) works will be carried out to connect new wells to the „Mojmilo“ Reservoir line, and on Tuesday, 08.08.2017.  a full connection to the pressure pipeline will be made.

Due to the aforementioned works, tonight from 22 h to 06 h, there will be a reduction in pressure and disruptions in water supply for the following settlements: Dobrinja, Saraj polje, Nedžarići, Alipašino polje, Halilovići, Otoka, Dolac malta, Socijalno, Grbavica, Pofalići, Miljacka settlement, Trg Heroja, Hrasno, Marijin dvor, Adema Buće, Čengić vila I and II, Rječica, Zabrđe, Rajlovac, Reljevo. Stabilisation of water supply is expected in the early morning hours (06 h).

Due to the situation, the Ministry of Communal Economy and Infrastructure of the Sarajevo Canton and the management of the company “ViK” are in continuous session, and they ask consumers for understanding and rational use of water.
