Sarajlić's resignation stands, court proceedings will also affect the mandate of the state delegate

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Asim Sarajlić, the main actor of the audio recording published by Semir Efendić, the mayor of Novi Grad municipality, in which he compromises himself by stating that he will "finish" the votes for Fikret Prevljak, the head of the SDA Sarajevo Cantonal Board, and also reveals some of his earlier illegal activities, said today after the SDA Collegium session that he apologizes to everyone he endangered by his actions or inaction and added that life goes on. The resignation from all party positions (SDA Vice-President and Head of the Personnel Commission) which he submitted on March 1 is final, and there is a possibility that he will no longer be a delegate in the BiH Parliament. 

"We talked about all the things that have happened recently at the meeting. I congratulate the newly elected leadership of the SDA Cantonal Board and I hope that, led by General Fikret Prevljak, they will have the strength, experience, and potential to cope with all the problems ahead of them. I am leaving a strong Cantonal Board within the SDA party structure with the best results and the most parliamentary and council candidates, with eight mayors and one city mayor," said Sarajlić.

Sarajlić apologized to all those whom he endangered in any way by his actions and asked for forgiveness, adding that he will speak about the reasons why he did it before the Prosecutor's Office and the Court.

"At the Collegium, I spoke about internal party aspects and the election process. In my opinion, the elections were conducted in accordance with the statute and election rules, and the party will probably decide on everything that happened before and after through investigative commissions," Sarajlić stated.

He expressed regret for damaging the party's reputation.

"I am withdrawing from all party structures, but after the court outcome, we will see if I am withdrawing from political life. One must be patient, I believe in justice," concluded Sarajlić.
