Sarajka dr. Sabina Topčić-Arnaut working on developing the world's first halal vaccine

Sarajka dr. Sabina Topčić-Arnaut who lives and works in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is one of the initiators of the development of the world's first halal vaccine, which would be intended for Muslim patients, but also for those of other religions, reports the news agency Patria.

Dr. Topčić-Arnaut, a specialist in anesthesiology, presented the idea together with her associates at one of the international conferences addressing the situation of Muslims in the world, after which it received approval from the majority of Islamic dignitaries.

- I believe that such a vaccine will be useful primarily for Muslims, but also for other people around the world - said Dr. Topčić-Arnaut in an interview for the news agency Patria. She has been living in Malaysia with her husband and children for more than 20 years and is one of the most respected doctors there, and she also founded a private company "Biogrow Health Sdn Bhd" after working at the University Hospital in Kuala Lumpur until 2002.

Dr. Topčić-Arnaut said that the halal vaccine is a large project involving a huge team that brings together healthcare workers from various fields. It will take time and money to finally develop such a vaccine.

Since 2009, the Institute of Immunology from Zagreb was also involved in the project, but a year ago the Institute from Croatia was excluded from the project due to their difficulties, and cooperation was established with new institutes and world-renowned companies.

The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency in Malaysia has also approved the development of such a project.

- Every ingredient of the vaccine must be produced in a halal, permissible manner. Now we are looking for those halal ingredients that would replace the ingredients currently found in vaccines, which are not produced in a halal, permissible manner - said Dr. Topčić-Arnaut, adding that the halal vaccine will certainly be more effective than vaccines not produced according to halal standards, reports NAP.
