Sarajevo SDP to make a decision: MPs demand explanation why Vranić cannot be minister but can head General Hospital

The session of the Cantonal Board of SDP BiH Sarajevo is scheduled for September 28. At this session, the Cantonal Board of SDP will make a final decision on the reconstruction of the Sarajevo Canton Government.

For days now, there have been speculations about the alleged resignation of the KS Minister of Health, Haris Vranić. He previously confirmed to Patria that he would not resign. However, out of the planned three ministers in the KS Government to be dismissed (Almir Bečarević and Emir Dedović from the Party for BiH, which will no longer be part of the government, and Pavle Krstić from Our Party as per an agreement between this party and the Trojka and independent MPs who will propose a candidate for the higher education portfolio, and Our Party for another portfolio), talk has now shifted to four ministers. This was also confirmed by Nihad Uk, the KS Prime Minister, during his guest appearance on TVSA's Polis show last week.

SDP is currently remaining silent regarding the request for Minister Vranić's dismissal, and it is alleged that a Western embassy has requested that he no longer be part of the KS Government. He is accused of alleged corruption related to some information system.

When asked again if he was leaving the KS Government, Vranić told Patria that he was on vacation until October 5.

Patria also spoke with some SDP MPs in the KS Assembly about the possible dismissal of Vranić. They say that if such a request from an embassy truly exists, then they expect evidence for these claims.

"Because Haris Vranić is being mentioned as the new director of the General Hospital 'Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš'. How is it possible that he is not acceptable as a minister, but is acceptable as the director of the General Hospital? We in the SDP Club will not support his dismissal until we see evidence of the alleged irregularities," says one of the MPs.

Deputies from other Trojka parties are also increasingly skeptical about the announced reconstruction of the KS Government. The political bargaining that has already begun has put the Trojka parties in a negative context, as have some controversial appointments made in secret. The government that swore to fight corruption is now facing accusations of it.

The head of Sarajevo SDP is Adnan Šteta, the current Minister of Transport in the KS Government. He faces a great responsibility in preserving SDP's position in the KS Government and in responding to the demands of foreign partners who supported this government.

Certain conflicts have been simmering in Sarajevo SDP for a long time, and the dissolution of some municipal organizations has been mentioned. The turbulence surrounding the KS Government could further deepen the problems within SDP.
