Sarajevo doctors successfully reattached arm of Marija Barić from Tešanj

The young 28-year-old woman from Tešanj, M.B., who was brought to the University Clinical Center Sarajevo yesterday with her arm severed almost to the shoulder, is currently stable, Azra Dedajić, head of the Public Relations Service at KCUS, told the Patria agency, writes Patria.

Thanks to Sarajevo doctors, this woman, whose arm was severed by a grain grinding machine, will not be disabled, and specialists at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo have recorded another success that can only be seen in the most prestigious clinics in the world.

- She is admitted to the Clinic for Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery of UKCS. The surgery lasted a full six hours, and the doctors managed to perform the arm replantation. According to the latest information, they are satisfied with the postoperative course - Dedajić stated.

According to information obtained by the BH news agency Patria (NAP), the patient is Marija Barić from Novo Selo near Tešanj. The accident occurred when Marija wanted to grind grain for livestock. Neighbors speak only words of praise about her and her husband Dalibor. They say they are engaged in raising bulls and are very hardworking.

- Novo Selo hasn't had such a hardworking young woman as Marija in a long time. She and her husband are very hardworking and honest. Great sadness has befallen them now. But, fortunately, everything will end well - one of the Barić neighbors told NAP.

Neighbors told Patria that Marija wanted to grind grain while Dalibor was at work, so they could continue with their work on the farm together. Unfortunately, the machine caught Marija's arm, and everything could have ended much worse if Marija's brother-in-law hadn't been nearby.

- Fortunately, Dalibor's older brother was nearby, and he saved Marija. Otherwise, if he hadn't been there, the machine would have killed her - the neighbors recounted, writes NAP.

Marija and Dalibor have two minor children; their son celebrated his first birthday a few months ago, and their daughter started first grade, writes NAP.
