Sarajevo school 'Nafija Sarajlić': Cancelled children's trip to Bjelašnica due to fear of migrants

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The 'School in Nature' trip for second and third graders of the 'Nafija Sarajlić' Primary School in Sarajevo, which was to be held on Bjelašnica, has been postponed. The school states that the 'School in Nature' was postponed due to some parents' fear of - migrants.

As explained to the Patria agency by this Sarajevo school, the school administration received an anonymous letter stating that the safety of children was threatened, especially due to migrants!

The immigration centre in Delijaši is located near Bjelašnica.

From the 'Nafija Sarajlić' school, they state that they also informed the Ministry of Education of the Sarajevo Canton about the anonymous letter.

Fourth graders from that school who are travelling to Neum for the 'School in Nature' are travelling without hindrance.

Nihada Čolić, Assistant Minister for Education, Science and Culture of the Sarajevo Canton, told Patria that the Ministry received warnings from parents regarding safety, so they informed the school to reconsider the decision to go to the 'School in Nature.'

- We cannot annul such decisions, but we gave a recommendation to the school. The teaching council ultimately annulled the decision to go to the 'School in Nature' on Bjelašnica. We received warnings from parents that the migrant route is near Bjelašnica. We acted on that information, but we cannot make any decisions; only the school can – said Čolić.

Students from the 'Nafija Sarajlić' Primary School were supposed to travel to Bjelašnica tomorrow, but the trip has been cancelled.
