Sarajevo Promotion of the Book 'Narcis i ruža' by Author Danielle Kordić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The promotion of the book Narcis i ruža by author Danielle Kordić from Zagreb was held last night at the Sarajevo bookstore Svjetlost.

In addition to writer Danielle Kordić and the moderator of the event, professor of philosophy and literature Nada Nakić Veseli, the literary evening featured the owner of the popular regional blog Čitaj knjigu, Alis Marić, and renowned Croatian psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Miro Jakovljević.

The specialized portal Living provides details from the book. „In her third book, Narcis i ruža, Daniella Kordić writes about the trauma of growing up and living with a narcissistic mother. The book provides precise answers on how we can resolve such relationships in our lives, step out of the victim position, and embark on the path to love that will set us free. Narcis i ruža – the power of light truth, is an autobiographical confession of a daughter seeking to understand the narcissistic mind of her mother. Part of the great value of this book lies in the fact that the author shows through her own example how she overcame and transcended the 'bad cards' that life's fate had dealt her.“

During the two-hour literary gathering, numerous aspects of narcissistic personality disorder were opened, along with the destructive consequences its presence can inflict on family and interpersonal relationships, and participants also considered paths to healing the soul, mind, and body from deep emotional wounds.

Daniella Kordić completed her studies in psychoanalysis at Birkbeck University in London. Through her studies, she realized that the study did not answer all her questions, so she combined psychoanalysis and spirituality – a blend of the visible and invisible worlds. She explains that psychoanalysis and spirituality have always intertwined in her life: 

„Where psychoanalysis had no answer, spirituality readily offered its solutions. On the other hand, some spiritual healing methods did not leave a strong enough impression on me without the support and strength that psychoanalysis brings with its experiences of the inner child.“

Prof. Dr. Miro Jakovljević emphasized the significance of the book in the „age of the epidemic of narcissism“ which, as he says, means „we psychiatrists have a lot of work.“

He stressed that one must distinguish between narcissistic personality traits and narcissistic personality disorder.

„Healthy narcissism is self-love, which is the foundation of mental health, so instead of healthy narcissism, it is much better to speak of self-love. However, self-love is not effective if there is no love for others, and the art of life is to love your neighbor as yourself, to do what we love and to love what we do. Well, that is exactly what narcissists lack – they want everyone to love and appreciate them, but they are incapable of loving,“ said the renowned psychiatrist.
