Sarajevo: Attempt to smuggle cannabis in a postal package from Lithuania

At the customs office of Sarajevo Post, authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH discovered 400 grams of cannabis in a registered parcel that arrived from Lithuania, it was announced from the ITA BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.

Implementing enhanced measures to prevent smuggling in international postal traffic, authorized officials of the Smuggling and Offence Prevention Group at the Sarajevo Regional Center inspected a registered parcel from Lithuania.

The parcel was intended for a private individual residing in the Sarajevo area. During the inspection, it was discovered to contain 400 grams of the narcotic drug cannabis, specifically buds with seeds. In cooperation with the Department for Combating Narcotic Drug Abuse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, this parcel was seized, and unauthorized trafficking of narcotics was prevented.

In discovering this parcel, officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority at the Sarajevo Regional Center used techniques and equipment donated by the Government of the USA through the EXBS program, such as the Smith Heiman stationary X-ray device, Ahura first defender, etc.
