Sarajevo: Soukbunar residents get new staircase

The construction of a new staircase in Soukbunar Street was completed in the past period. The works were financed by the Centar Municipality in the amount of 15,000 KM, reports the Patria News Agency.

Workers of the selected company, at the beginning of the works, removed soil next to the road and prepared the foundation, and after the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall and a 30-meter-long staircase, kulir tiles resistant to various weather conditions were installed on the treads.

- As planned by the project, handrails need to be installed on both sides of the staircase to facilitate descent, which we plan to do in the coming days, said Mesud Zimić, site manager of the construction company ''Sela'', which was engaged based on the contract for the execution of works on the investment and technical maintenance of staircases and handrails in the Centar municipality, signed by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Dževad Bećirević and the director of the company ''Sela'' Sead Tutić.

The Service for Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs of the Centar Municipality managed to realize this project thanks to the selflessness and understanding of the owner of the residential building who ceded the land for the construction of the staircase.

Residents of this part of the Centar municipality will no longer have problems descending this very steep street, especially during the winter months, it was announced from the Municipality.
