Sarajevo today remembers all who gave their lives for freedom and homeland

Today, a commemorative session was held at the National Theatre in Sarajevo to mark the Day of Remembrance for all killed citizens of Sarajevo from 1992-1995 and the 21st anniversary of the death of 68 Sarajevans at Markale, reports the Patria news agency.

-Sarajevo today remembers all those who gave their lives for freedom and homeland. Forgetting is a sin and complicity in crime, said at the beginning of the session the presiding officer of the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton, Sabahudin Delalić, after which those present paid tribute to the victims with a minute of silence and the Fatiha.

The session was organized by the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton, the City Council, and the municipal councils of the Sarajevo Canton.

As every year, by laying flowers at the memorial at the Markale market, the families of the victims, friends, citizens, and officials remembered the bloody images from 21 years ago when an aggressor's shell killed 68 of our fellow citizens and wounded 142 seriously and lightly.

On behalf of the Centar Municipality, flowers were laid by the presiding officer of the Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić, the deputy presiding officer of the Council Slaven Kovačević, councilors Haris Fazlagić, Jasmin Gazija, and Suvad Kerla, and advisor to the municipal mayor Mustafa Resić.
