Sarajevo confirmed its image of a European capital

(Patria) - The full Trg Bosne i Hercegovine last night was the most beautiful image of our city and country that went out into the world, said Abdulah Skaka, the mayor of Sarajevo.

"We showed that united, together and gathered around positive projects and a better future, we are moving forward strongly. Tens of thousands of people who were with us last night confirm this. But, I want to point out that the entire city showed true maturity. Without incidents, with excellent cooperation with all services, Sarajevo confirmed its image of a European capital. I especially want to highlight the traditional New Year's concert at the National Theatre, which has become an inseparable part of the Sarajevo experience.

The New Year's concert of the Sarajevo Philharmonic is a tradition that for many Sarajevans and guests of the city is the most beautiful way to bid farewell to the old year.

It was the same this time. The Sarajevo Philharmonic invited special guests: the soloist on the harmonica was Antonio Serrano from Spain, and the evening was enhanced by the famous conductor Alan Bjelinski from Croatia. As the mayor of Sarajevo, together with my deputy Ivica Šarić, I presented them with appropriate gifts and congratulated them on their performance, as well as all members of the Philharmonic.

Once again, our city hosts guests from all over the world, European metropolises and neighboring countries, and Sarajevo is recognized as a regional center and one of the most desirable European New Year's destinations.

I am happy that we are entering 2020 as a City that has become known as the capital of good company and entertainment, a meeting place, but also of economic and tourist growth. We did not change last year's slogan, Sarajevo, the New Year's center of the region, proved to be a very successful brand, from an economic and tourist aspect.

We confirmed the role of a good host, provided a true holiday atmosphere, and together justified that slogan. Once again, I send my warmest greetings to everyone, with the wish that we be proud citizens of this city.
