Sarajevo: Ramadan food packages and vouchers distributed

(Patria) - The Office for Social Welfare of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH today distributed Ramadan food packages and vouchers to fasting individuals and vulnerable social groups in front of the Istiklal Mosque in Sarajevo.

Around 300 packages and vouchers will be distributed in the area of the Islamic Community (MIZ) Sarajevo.

- As part of regular Ramadan activities, the Office for Social Welfare of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community, in cooperation with MIZ Sarajevo, is distributing Ramadan packages today to fasting individuals and those in social need. On this occasion, we will also distribute vouchers for socially vulnerable families, and we hope they will be useful - said Amela Brdar, expert associate of the Office for Social Welfare.

Monetary vouchers are awarded from the funds of the Bejtul-mal Fund, and the Office for Social Welfare secured most of the food packages through the Humanitarian Organization "Human Appeal" from Australia. Also, some of the packages are a donation from the organization "Rahma" from England".
Assistance will be distributed in various ways, from direct collection to home delivery, where there is a need for it.

- Some packages were distributed here at the Istiklal Mosque in Otoka, some will be distributed in the local communities in cooperation with imams, while the rest will be delivered to the addresses of those who are unable to come and collect the package - said Brdar.

The coordinator for social welfare of MIZ Sarajevo, Ferid-ef. Ganić, took this opportunity to present the activities being carried out in the field of supporting vulnerable social groups, stating that Ramadan is a special occasion for compassion and empathy.

- Ramadan is a month of intense worship that we perform, but it is also a month of giving and sharing. Today, we are distributing significant assistance in food packages and monetary vouchers to our most vulnerable social groups. These groups often include the elderly, people with health problems, and our demobilized soldiers - said efendija Ganić.

As he points out, focusing on these social groups means understanding their life stories, the situations they have been through in life, as well as striving to be available to them within the limits of our capabilities.
- When it comes to MIZ Sarajevo and its social responsibility and empathy, we can be proud that we continuously care for these categories of the population in various ways.

This is particularly evident in this month, through the distribution of packages, iftars that we deliver to homes, and other forms of assistance, in order to bring joy to their hearts as much as possible, because each of them has a unique story that is certainly not easy at all.

They are righteous, they strive and fight, so we also try to preserve their dignity, but also to help them within the capabilities of the Islamic Community and the Bejtul-mal Fund - explained efendija Ganić.

Beneficiaries of the assistance expressed their gratitude to the Riyaset and the Office for Social Welfare for, as they emphasize, alleviating their hardships and supporting their efforts.

- Thanks to the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have somehow endured all these hardships, situations, and circumstances we find ourselves in more easily in all the past years.
They somehow complete the blessings of Ramadan, and I am very grateful for that - said Haris Gobeljić, one of the beneficiaries of the Islamic Community's assistance.

The Riyaset of the Islamic Community, through the Office for Social Welfare, implements various forms of support activities for vulnerable social groups throughout the year, and especially during the month of Ramadan, including such distributions of food packages and vouchers.
