Sarajevo to remain without a mayor, no one wants to take over the mandate for three months?

(Patria) - Although the session of the City Council of Sarajevo was scheduled for today at 10 AM, it is possible that it will not even be held because the "trojka" parties have not found a candidate who is willing to be the mayor for the next three months until the election of a new City Council and a new mayor of Sarajevo. As confirmed to Patria, none of the potential candidates who were spoken to wanted to accept the offer.

The right to propose a mayor was left to the SDP, given that Benjamina Karić took over the mandate of the mayor of Novi Sarajevo. The cantonal organization of SDP Sarajevo spoke with several candidates, but no one wanted to accept this kind of exhibition at the head of Sarajevo. Discussions were also held with Mirko Pejanović, Ante Domazet, and Ženjo Ljubuškić, but none of them agreed. Ljubuškić was offered to remain in the position of deputy in the next mandate as well, but he did not agree to that.

At today's session, Mirza Selimbegović was supposed to be proposed as one deputy until the election of a new mayor and two deputies, but it is questionable whether these appointments will be made if there is no mayor.

Although the logical sequence of events was for one of the two deputies to take over the function of acting mayor, the "trojka" parties SDP, NS, and NIP have also made this process meaningless.

One of the deputies, Samir Avdić (NIP), decided to take over the mandate of a councilor in Novi Sarajevo, and the other deputy, Anja Margetić, lost the support of Naša stranka, whose councilors withdrew the proposal at the last session to appoint her as acting mayor.

After that session, Margetić made accusations of dishonest actions and spoke about processes in the City Administration, also accusing the former mayor Benjamina Karić. She pointed out that zoning plans are being changed and expensive contracts for the public New Year's Eve celebration are being signed. Finally, Margetić also announced her departure from Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that the "trojka" has "continued where the previous ones left off".

Margetić has been on annual leave since November 24th and will return to the City Administration by mid-December, and as she stated, she will remain in the position of deputy until the election of a new mayor and two deputies.

The new City Council should be formed in February, when candidates for mayor and deputies will be proposed. Regardless of the election results, the position of mayor will go to Narod i pravda, and names like Samir Avdić and Kemal Kozarić are already being mentioned...
