Sarajevo: Meeting Held on Continuation of Graffiti Removal Campaign, Citizens Asked to Help

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A meeting was held today at the premises of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, attended by representatives of the City Administration of Sarajevo, representatives of ICITAP (International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program in BiH) and police officers of the Police Administration and RPZ police officers, regarding the continuation of the campaign “Graffiti Removal” - Zone without graffiti in 2019, the MoI of Sarajevo Canton announced.

The goal of the campaign is to raise citizens' awareness that writing graffiti primarily causes material damage to legal and natural persons, and harms the overall appearance and image of the city.

The implementation of these activities begins on March 25, and it is planned to remove graffiti from 32 buildings, for which the City Administration of Sarajevo has obtained the necessary approvals. Under municipal misdemeanor decisions against public order and peace, writing graffiti is defined as a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of 150 to 450 BAM, and under certain circumstances, it can be qualified as a criminal offense.

Citizens of Sarajevo Canton are invited to contribute as well, and to report individuals writing graffiti to the nearest police station or by calling 122.
