Sarajevo: Eighth of March protest march held 'I want to live off my work!'

(Patria) - An Eighth of March protest march was held in Sarajevo today with the slogan "I want to live off my work!"

The march, on the occasion of International Women's Day, was organized by an informal group of activists from BiH for living wage working conditions, against unpaid and underpaid work, and for a better life for all of us.

A message was sent to the powerful, authorities, and employers - female workers are not slaves and will not remain silent while they profit and are exploited.

It was stated that today's march is in solidarity with women whose rights are systematically violated, whether they are underpaid, forced to work weekends and overtime without compensation and annual leave, or subjected to mobbing and sexual harassment in the workplace.

It was also emphasized that women are doubly marginalized in the labor market because they do not have paid leave for childcare, because they lose their jobs or the chance to get employed as soon as they get pregnant, and because they are paid less than their male colleagues for the same work.
