Sarajevo: Seventh anniversary of the death of police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović marked

(Patria) - The seventh anniversary of the death of police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (KS) Police Administration, members of the Novi Grad Police Administration, was marked in Sarajevo today.

Family members, friends, colleagues, and numerous delegations laid flowers at the memorial plaque and paid tribute at the site where the police officers were murdered in Geteova Street, in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood.



- No punishment would be adequate for taking the life of a police officer, a father, a husband, a son, and a brother. However, I believe that by imposing the maximum penalty provided by law in the first instance, a clear message has been sent to everyone that no one will ever dare to commit such a crime again.

That they do not dare. They cannot escape justice. Nothing can bring Adis and Davor back, but I hope that this sentence has brought peace and justice to their families - said the Minister of Internal Affairs of KS, Admir Katica.



In memory of Adis and Davor, honorary platoons of police officers from the Police Support Sector were lined up today.

- Adis and Davor were violently torn away from their families, their neighborhoods, their colleagues, and the entire society. The passage of time does not diminish that pain, but it obliges us to always keep the memory of Adis and Davor alive. They were honorable and honest men, dedicated to their families and their service, and that is how we remember them.

Through their sacrifice, they left us with the duty to strongly oppose all forms of violence, to protect our citizens and our city. We remember Adis and Davor, our brothers, with the fondest memories and with great respect - said Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević.



- This year again, with the same reverence and respect, we pay tribute to our brave colleagues who laid down their lives in the service of citizens and in defense of justice. This is the first anniversary since the perpetrators of this heinous crime were finally convicted and are behind bars.

Thus, at least partially, justice has been served, which the families, friends, and all of us have been waiting for for so long - said Saim Smajlović, president of the Steering Committee of the KS Police Union.

Flowers were laid and tribute was paid at their burial sites, at the Buća Potok Martyrs' Cemetery and at the "Sveti Josip" cemetery.



In memory of the murdered colleagues, the Memorial Tournament in Futsal "Adis & Davor" was held again this year, organized by the KS Police Union, which brought together teams from numerous police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Police officers, senior police officer Adis Šehović and police officer Davor Vujinović, were killed in the line of duty in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood on October 26, 2018. Adis was 43 years old, and Davor was 46. They were posthumously awarded the "Golden Police Badge".

In 2024, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo sentenced three defendants to a total of 75 years in prison.
