Sarajevo bids farewell to truck with 136 Srebrenica victims

Sarajevo was silenced, 136 coffins of innocent victims who perished in the Srebrenica genocide passed through its heart today, writes the Patria News Agency.

Tears, sadness, and sobbing echoed as the mournful procession moved away and headed for Potočari, where the victims will find their peace. 

US Ambassador Maureen Cormack came to the front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina building to pay tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, whose 136 remains started their journey to Potočari today, writes the BH News Agency Patria. 

In a statement to the media, she said that she condemns the genocide and all crimes, and that everyone should condemn the genocide.

- My heart is broken by what happened yesterday in the UN Security Council, but the US will not give up. I cannot even imagine what it is like to search for the bones of your child for 20 years. I understand the mothers of Srebrenica because I am a mother myself - said Cormack, who is paying tribute to the victims here in Sarajevo for the first time. 

Cormack will join the participants of the March of Peace 2015 in tomorrow's final leg to Potočari.

A large number of citizens and family members of the victims came out onto the streets of Sarajevo to pay tribute to the victims and bid farewell to the mournful convoy with coffins. A path was made from white rose petals through which the mournful convoy passed.

Numerous figures from the political, cultural, and public life of Bosnia and Herzegovina also paid their respects in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina building.
