Sarajevo welcomed 2026 with an increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board is satisfied with the results of the New Year tourist season, which confirmed Sarajevo's status as one of the most desirable winter destinations in the region.

In the period from December 29, 2025 to January 2, 2026, 15,110 arrivals and 35,534 overnight stays were recorded, representing an increase of 1.4% in arrivals and 4.5% in overnight stays compared to the same period of the previous record year. The average length of stay was 2.4 days.

In a slightly broader period, from December 29, 2025 to January 5, 2026, 23,208 tourists arrived in Sarajevo, with 52,150 overnight stays. This segment also recorded growth: 1.6% more arrivals and 4.0% more overnight stays compared to the same period last year, with an average stay of 2.3 days.

The largest number of guests came from: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey, Austria, Italy, Germany, and China.

These data confirm that Sarajevo remains an attractive and competitive destination for the New Year holidays, thanks to its rich offerings, unique atmosphere, and continuous promotion of the Visit Sarajevo brand.
