Sarajevo in burgundy blue today: Everything ready for the eternal derby

Footballers of Sarajevo and Željezničar will play the 112th derby of the City of Sarajevo today at the ''Asim Ferhatović Hase'' stadium, as part of the 5th round of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The derby will start at 8 PM and it is believed that both teams have equal chances for triumph, although Željezničar stands better in the standings, and Sarajevo has the advantage of home ground.

Sarajevo suffered both of its losses this season precisely at Koševo, against Zrinjski in the first round and against Goško in the third round. However, regardless of current form, the derby has always brought uncertainty, and that is expected this time as well.

The head coach of FK Željezničar, Admir Adžem, emphasized that his team arrives in good spirits after the victory against Borac, and that Željezničar will give their best to make the derby ''watchable''.

Sarajevo coach Senad Repuh is optimistic ahead of the duel and stresses that players do not need additional motivation for the derby.

- Some players are returning to us, which gives us additional confidence. Players do not need special motivation; I would like us to have more matches like this. A victory would lift us out of the crisis, and we hope the match will be appealing, because Sarajevo wants victory more than ever - said Repuh.

After 111 league duels so far, the Sarajevo rivals are tied, as both clubs have achieved 32 victories each, while 47 matches ended in a draw. The goal difference is in Sarajevo's favor, standing at 125:122.

The first Sarajevo derby was played on October 10, 1954, at Grbavica, and Sarajevo won with a convincing 6:1. Immediately in the next one, played on April 17, 1955, at Koševo, Željezničar retaliated by winning 3:2.

In addition to 111 league derbies, the Sarajevo rivals have so far played 14 matches in the Cup and Super Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and three in the Cup of SFR Yugoslavia. This brings the total to 128 eternal derbies, with the record in favor of Željezničar, who have 39 victories, one more than Sarajevo. 51 matches ended without a winner.
