SARAJEVO, (Patria) - With an AQI of 268 (Air Quality Index), Sarajevo was the most polluted city in the world today at 2 PM, announced the United States Government, according to data collected from cities where the country's embassies are located, reports Patria agency.
The air quality index on Saturday evening exceeded 300 units.
"AQI values between 201 and 300 can cause more serious health effects," the warning states, which also explains that the US Embassy in Sarajevo has air quality monitoring equipment. The results of this monitoring are available to the public on the website of the Environmental Protection Agency's Air Now. Air quality data collected at the US Embassy may differ from other monitors located in Sarajevo, as data from a single monitoring station cannot be applied to the entire city.
Sarajevo today at 2 PM was more polluted than Beijing, whose air quality index was 242.
