(Patria) - A Protocol on handling rape cases in Sarajevo Canton will be signed today in Sarajevo.
This protocol establishes an institutional framework based on a multidisciplinary approach, aiming at the prevention, detection, prosecution, and provision of support and protection to rape victims through coordinated action of system institutions and civil society organizations in Sarajevo Canton.
This is the first Protocol on handling rape cases in Bosnia and Herzegovina, establishing institutional multi-sectoral support for rape victims, one of the most severe crimes.
The Protocol also establishes the first support center for rape victims through the opening of a clinic at the "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital in Sarajevo, thus coordinating the work of protection entities, including the non-governmental sector.
The Protocol will be signed by authorized representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, the "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" General Hospital Public Institution, the Sarajevo Canton Social Work Center Public Institution, and the Foundation of Local Democracies.
