Damages to Koševski Potok stream bed repaired

Representatives of the Civil Protection Service of Centar Municipality, the Institute for the Development of Sarajevo Canton, and the construction company 'Bosman' visited the locations on March 16, 2015, where another phase of work on the Koševski Potok stream bed arrangement has been completed, reports the Patria News Agency.

This involves the repair of damages to the Koševski Potok stream bed along Nahorevska Street between numbers 141 and 240-a, which occurred during the major floods in May last year. The works were financed by Centar Municipality with approximately 70,000 KM.

In this phase, a 60-meter long reinforced concrete retaining wall was built along the stream bed in Nahorevska Street near number 240-a. In addition, two concrete cascades were constructed along the stream bed between Nahorevska Street 244 and Aleksandar Puškin 4.

Since the foundations of the existing concrete retaining wall near the building at Nahorevska Street 141 were undermined during the heavy May rainfall and the swollen Koševski Potok, posing a risk of collapse of the building and part of the road, new foundations for the retaining wall, 25 meters long, were built in this phase of the works. The works were carried out by the construction company 'Bosman', while the Institute for the Development of Sarajevo Canton was responsible for supervision.

According to Vahid Bećirević, Assistant Head of Civil Protection for Centar Municipality, an amount of 150,000 KM has been allocated in the municipal budget for the continuation of the Koševski Potok stream bed arrangement this year. Otherwise, Centar Municipality has invested approximately 480,000 KM in the Koševski Potok stream bed arrangement project since 2009, which it is implementing in cooperation with the Sarajevo City Administration, it was announced from Centar Municipality.
