Single mother Senija: Don't send me charity, help me revive my rural estate

Single mother Senija Selimović from Zvornik asks people of good will to help her revive her small rural estate, which would provide a livelihood for her two children and herself, writes BH news agency Patria.

Senija lives in the village of Jošanica with her two underage daughters. Several years ago, her husband passed away after a serious illness, and now this brave woman is fighting alone for her family, without the right to a pension or social assistance.
She said that until now she has survived with the help of humanitarian organizations, which bring food to her children and herself, but now she says she lives in the countryside and would like good people to help her revive her rural estate. A greenhouse, or even better a cow, would be of great use to her, from which she could feed her children.

- I am strong and capable. I would like to earn a decent living for my children, rather than waiting for others to give us charity - said Senija, who adds that she would also help others in the village who live hard, if she gathered enough food for her family.

In the village where Senija returned with her family, in the 1990s, Serbian soldiers killed dozens of Bosniaks, burned the village and destroyed their estates. Senija, along with several other neighbors, returned to her hearth shortly after the end of the conflict, but she survives with great difficulty, writes Patria.
