Summit in Berlin held at the wrong time for BiH and its so-called political leaders

Asim Mujkić, a professor at the Faculty of Political Science in Sarajevo, stated that he does not expect the Summit of Western Balkan countries, organized by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on August 28 this year in Berlin, to bring anything good to Bosnia and Herzegovina, unfortunately, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited leaders from Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighboring countries to a Summit where, among other things, progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its path towards the European Union will be discussed.

Professor Mujkić says that no progress is expected from this Summit in our country. The reason for his pessimistic thinking, he said, are the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are held less than two months after the Summit.

- The timing of this meeting is bad - Mujkić told Patria.

- During the Summit, the pre-election campaign in BiH will reach its peak, and it is always based on a radical, extreme, nationalist discourse in our country. Any sign of reconciliation and potential willingness to talk at such a meeting could be perceived as weakness in the context of the pre-election campaign. And I don't believe any of the so-called political leaders could afford such a luxury. I think the Summit on August 28 will, unfortunately, end ingloriously. It would have been better if such a meeting had been convened after the formation of government in BiH - added Mujkić, writes Patria.
