Salzburg: BiH gets a stand at the oldest fair in Europe

At the most famous Christmas fair in Europe, held annually in Salzburg, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina also had a stand this year, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

Although this fair is mainly reserved for local exhibitors, the association „BH Diaspora“ received permission from the organizers to set up a stand with Bosnian products at the fair, where the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also flying.

The Christmas fair in Salzburg, also known as the Christkindlmarkt, was first mentioned back in the 15th century, and is one of the oldest fairs of its kind in Europe. It was previously known as the St. Nicholas Fair (Nikolaimarkt), but today the name Christkindlmarkt is used exclusively. In its current form, it has been held since 1972, after a break of about 40 years.

During the fair, Salzburg is a special place, the Christmas spirit can be felt at every step. At that time, it is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world.

At the Christkindlmarkt, one can find Christmas decorations of all kinds, colors and shapes, Christmas trees, warm hats, gloves and scarves, as well as all kinds of sweets, cookies, and hot drinks.

During the four days that Bosnia and Herzegovina was allowed to exhibit at the fair, ćevapi, pljeskavice and some other traditional Bosnian dishes were presented, writes Patria.
