Salko Sokolović for Patria: I will be an independent MP in the BiH Parliament, SDA needs changes at the top

After state MP Senad Šepić officially confirmed that he remains outside the SDA Club as an independent MP, Salko Sokolović, who has been in the SDA since its founding, did the same, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In a statement to Patria, he said that the SDA Presidency has not fulfilled even part of what the four MPs had demanded in recent months when they left the SDA Club.

- We demanded the formation of a Working Group that would propose amendments to the Statute and organize a Convention or extraordinary Congress within six months at the latest, but that did not happen, so it was announced that the Congress would be held only in 2019 and that a broad base of delegates would be formed to elect the party leadership - says Sokolović.

Sokolović believes that the SDA Presidency and President Bakir Izetbegović only wanted to buy time and keep them in the club due to the needed votes in the BiH Parliament, but that the ultimate goal was elimination.

- Changes need to be made, and the people should have their say in the SDA party. A different way of treatment within the party itself is needed. The initial idea of the SDA is being abused and individuals are using it - says Sokolović.

The state MP believes that nepotism and corruption should be fought against and states that "nepotism is when the party president appoints his wife as director of any institution".

It pains him, he says, to see how far the SDA has strayed from its basic idea, as well as the attitude towards numerous party cadres.

When asked what he thinks about Šemsudin Mehmedović and Sadik Ahmetović agreeing to the conditions of the SDA Presidency, Sokolović says that "they believe they can still change something".
