Salkić: It's time to show we have a backbone, no concessions to genocide deniers

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ramiz Salkić, the vice-president of the BiH entity of RS, said today that it is anti-civilization, arrogant, and immoral to ask victims of a proven and adjudicated genocide to accept the repeal of the law that prescribes punishment for those who deny genocide and glorify convicted war criminals.

If these demands come from representatives of the international community, then it is a continuation of the betrayal that began in July 1995, when you betrayed the inhabitants of the UN "safe areas" of Srebrenica and Žepa, whose safety you guaranteed through UN Resolutions.

Anyone who accepts such blackmail will be recorded in history as a traitor to the victims of genocide, truth, and justice. There should be no trading or rotten compromises with the victims of genocide, truth, and justice.

The international community has always yielded to blackmail and pressure, mostly from perpetrators of violence, which is why it did not intervene in a timely manner to prevent the genocide against Bosniaks in the "safe zones," committed by the army and parts of the police of the rebellious Bosnian Serbs.

I call on the international community to, instead of making concessions to genocide deniers, initiate activities to eliminate the consequences of genocide based on the verdicts of two international courts; the valid UN Convention and Resolution oblige you to do so.

Only by eliminating the consequences of genocide can the international community wash away, to some extent, the stain on its conscience for allowing the rebellious Bosnian Serbs to commit genocide against Bosnian Muslims, Bosniaks. If they feel any remorse at all for such an act in 1995.

This is a time when our friends and enemies should understand that we have a backbone and that we will not accept, today or in the future, the establishment of anti-civilization values in our homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
