Salkić: RS authorities create a sense among the population that they already live in Serbia

(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska today adopted the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem of Republika Srpska, which provides for the reintroduction of the Nemanjić coat of arms and the anthem "Bože pravde".

MP in the NSRS Ramiz Salkić (SDA) told Fena that the Draft Law was adopted and will be discussed again in the National Assembly.

- We will once again point out the unacceptability of what was prohibited by the decision of the Constitutional Court and declared discriminatory becoming part of manifestations, part of activities that will be carried out in various places - says Salkić.

He considers it unacceptable for the coat of arms, which the Constitutional Court declared discriminatory, to appear anywhere in the entity of Republika Srpska. Likewise, he adds, the performance of the anthem "Bože pravde" is unacceptable.

- An attempt is being made here to create an environment and circumstances in which iconography specific to Serbia will be legalized, to be acceptable in the territory of this entity, and to create a sense that this territory is actually Serbia and that, in a way, the population in the entity is getting used to being in Serbia, not part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Especially considering the fact that state symbols are absolutely avoided in any manifestation, in public spaces, on many public institutions. So, the tendency here is clear to strengthen Serbia's presence through this law and create a sense of belonging of this entity to Serbia - Salkić believes.

When asked what can be done if the law is ultimately adopted in the NSRS, Salkić answered that all available mechanisms will be used in the National Assembly and the Council of Peoples, and before the Constitutional Court of the entity, but also before the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Salkić points out that through these mechanisms, the fact that an attempt is being made to mock the decision of the Constitutional Court will be pointed out, and that, despite the existence of the Constitutional Court's decision and the declaration of these symbols as discriminatory, they will be put back into use and become part of the space we live in.
