Salkić: The High Representative should not seek excuses and alibis for his inaction in others

(Patria) - Ramiz Salkić, a deputy in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, reacted to the statement of High Representative Christian Schmidt, who said that it is up to law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the police to take appropriate legally prescribed steps due to the marking of January 9th.

Salkić emphasized that the High Representative should do his job, not shift responsibility to other institutions and individuals who are anyway called upon to take steps based on the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina against those who oppose the implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The High Representative should not seek excuses and alibis for his inaction and non-action in others. He promised the citizens that there would be no more marking of January 9th as the citizens had the opportunity to see in East Sarajevo on January 9, 2023. By marking January 9th by the authorities of the Bosnian Serbs in the Republika Srpska entity, decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are violated, which grossly violates the Dayton Peace Agreement. The High Representative, at the core of his mandate, has an obligation to ensure the implementation of the civilian part of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

He should do his job, not shift responsibility to other institutions and individuals who are anyway called upon to take steps based on the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina against those who oppose the implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Without exempting the Prosecutor's Office from responsibility, which indirectly encourages the marking of January 9th through its inaction, we expect the High Representative to act in accordance with his obligations to protect the Dayton Peace Agreement, which includes the unconditional implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Salkić.
