Salkić: Srebrenica is under the administration of the same ideological matrix that committed genocide

(Patria) - MP in the NSRs Ramiz Salkić (SDA) warned in the show Dan uživo on N1 television that the renaming of a street in Srebrenica to Goran Zekić Street, or the placement of a sign with his name, is proof that this municipality - over whose population genocide was committed - is still politically controlled by actors who nurture the same ideological goals as the perpetrators of genocide.

Salkić points out that this is a "planned and intentional act" that deepens the consequences of the war and creates an atmosphere of insecurity for the returnee community.

- This is a consequence of the situation we are in - that the municipality of Srebrenica, over whose population genocide was committed, has remained under the administration of those who are on the same ideological matrix as the perpetrators of genocide. We have not managed to punish all those responsible, nor has society gone through catharsis - says Salkić.

He notes that this is a pattern, not an isolated incident.

- It's not just Zekić Street that is problematic. Other streets named after war criminals, from the last war and from the previous system, are also problematic. If nothing changes, in twenty years some new generations will name streets after Radovan Karadžić and others convicted of genocide - Salkić believes.

He claims that the choice of name is not accidental, as Goran Zekić was a trusted man of Radovan Karadžić.

- He held meetings with convicted war criminal Miroslav Deronjić in Belgrade about how Serbs in Podrinje should be armed. He was in charge of that job. They know very well whom they have chosen.

I was in the camp in Bratunac when Goran Zekić's father brought the tools with which we were mistreated. We are talking about people who are at the foundation of all the crimes - Salkić points out.

He emphasizes that he is seeking a reaction from the international community, and adds that he expects the domestic and international public to understand that without eliminating the consequences of genocide, we are suffering the poisoning of its final phase.

- An environment is being created in which the families of the victims do not feel safe. That is the goal of this government - Salkić assesses.

He also states that the High Representative Christian Schmidt must act in Podrinje as well.

- The High Representative must show that he is not the High Representative only for one part of BiH. Let him do something for the people in Podrinje so that they feel safe - Salkić added.

He also underlines that the authorities in the RS entity are using constitutional provisions to completely dominate political processes.

- The authorities in this entity are aware of what they received in Dayton and are using the mechanisms given to them to order people what to do. Bosniaks and Croats in this entity have no protection mechanism left, unlike the one left for Serbs in the FBiH and at the BiH level - Salkić said.

In the end, he concluded that "Serbs can decide on everything. They do not need Bosniaks and Croats. This is the injustice they are celebrating today."
