(Patria) - A desperate attempt to hide the truth by changing the name of Srebrenica is doomed to failure, said MP in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Ramiz Salkić, reacting to the announcements of the leader of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik that he will initiate procedures for changing the name of the municipality of Srebrenica.

- The execution of genocide was planned and systematically prepared by the political and military leadership of the rebellious Bosnian Serbs. Genocide was committed against Bosniaks who, due to aggression and persecution, found themselves in the UN "safe zone" of Srebrenica.

It was committed by the Bosnian Serb army and police in the wider region of central Podrinje, and no amount of talk about changing the name of the municipality of Srebrenica will change that.

The locations of liquidations, mass graves, and the units of the army and police that were engaged in committing genocide testify to the fact that genocide was committed against the Bosniak residents of the UN "safe zone" of Srebrenica in the wider region of central Podrinje in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to the mass liquidations of Bosniak civilians in Potočari, who were taken from UN forces' camp and separated from their families, cruel liquidations of prisoners were carried out at the agricultural cooperative in Kravica, Bratunac municipality, and mass executions of prisoners in the settlement of Nova Kasaba, Milići municipality.

Planned and systematic executions were carried out at the locations of Pilica, Branjevo, and other places in the Zvornik municipality.

Mass graves with murdered Bosniaks, residents of the UN "safe zone" of Srebrenica, were discovered in the territory of the municipalities of Vlasenica, Milići, Bratunac, Zvornik, Srebrenica, and other places.

Bosniak prisoners from the UN "safe zone" of Srebrenica were held in the "Vuk Karadžić" elementary school camp in Bratunac, whose name was changed to "Branko Radičević" to hide this fact, as well as the truth about the camp for Bosniaks in Bratunac in 1992.

In the genocide, Bosniaks from all over Podrinje were killed, who during the aggression were pushed from Kamenica in Zvornik, Cerska in Vlasenica, Konjević Polje in Bratunac, Glogova, Pirići, Blječeve, Joševa, and Jagodnja into the UN "safe zone" of Srebrenica, where in July 1995, the Bosnian Serb army and parts of the police, as part of a joint criminal enterprise under the political control of Radovan Karadžić and the military command of Ratko Mladić, committed genocide.

Dodik is right - genocide was not only committed against Bosniaks who lived in Srebrenica before the aggression, but against Bosniaks from several municipalities of Podrinje who sought refuge in Srebrenica, which was declared a UN "safe zone".

Therefore, it is necessary to treat the entire area where genocide was committed and from which the victims of genocide originate as an area of genocide commission that will be memorialized in an adequate way, and to create preconditions for the institutional reintegration of this area and the return of the forcibly taken status rights of Bosniaks in this area.
