Salkić on abuse of a minor in Osmaci: Partisanship and brutality of RS police towards Bosniaks

(Patria) - The brutality of the RS entity police towards a minor in Osmaci, according to his and his father's testimony, is proof of the partisanship and brutality of the entity police when it comes to Bosniaks.

This was stated on social networks by MP in the NSRs Ramiz Salkić, following the claims of a minor from Mahala, Ajdin Jusić (2009), that RS Ministry of Internal Affairs police officers brutally beat him in the Osmaci police station, demanding that he confess to things he knew nothing about.

Ajdin's father, Juso, is outraged by the approach of the RS police officers and demands that the entire case be investigated. According to his statements, the boy was brought in for questioning but not as a suspect.

- However, instead of talking to him in my presence, RS Ministry of Internal Affairs officers decided to use violence to extort a confession from the boy, taking him to a separate room - stated father Juso.

Salkić states that the questioning and abuse of a minor without the presence of a lawyer or guardian, according to his and his father's testimony, and the attempt to extort a confession according to the police's wishes, is particularly symptomatic here.

"Only this year have we witnessed a series of attacks and threats directed at Bosniaks without an adequate police response. On the other hand, we are witnessing the brutality and tendentious approach of the entity police towards Bosniaks.

All of this is a consequence of the never-implemented police reform and the continuity of the RS police's actions, which are linked to police structures, parts of which have been convicted by the Hague Tribunal of committing genocide against Bosniaks.

The national structure of employees in the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs has never been established in accordance with Article 97 of the entity's Constitution.

Representatives of the international community, and especially the OHR and the High Representative, whose primary task is the implementation of the civilian part of the Dayton Peace Agreement, have never consistently and principledly insisted on the implementation of this article.

As long as members of such a police force sing songs 'for the holy cross, for Nemanjić, for Obilić', and while out of 7,000 police officers in the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs, we have 330 Bosniaks, it is difficult to expect objective and impartial work, as well as the creation of a safe environment for Bosniaks by such an entity police.

It is the obligation of state security agencies, as well as the OHR, to get involved in ensuring a safe environment for Bosniaks in this entity after the attacks in Višegrad, Bratunac, threats in Bijeljina, Doboj, and the recent abuse of the boy in Osmaci.

It is evident that the police are an instrument in the hands of the authorities in this entity for further pressure on Bosniaks, which results in a feeling of insecurity for the personal and collective safety of Bosniaks in this entity," wrote Salkić.
