Salkić criticizes judiciary in BiH: How to explain the non-prosecution of genocide denial?

(Patria) - The Vice-President of the Party of Democratic Action and the only representative of that party in the National Assembly of the RS entity, Ramiz Salkić, has sharply criticized the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Waiting for the rule of law to function at full capacity leaves room for citizens to suspect and believe that the rule of law is selectively manifested in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

How else can we explain the fact that no one has yet been punished for denying genocide and glorifying war criminals at the individual and institutional level.

How can we explain that no one has ever been punished for marking January 9th as the day of the RS entity, despite the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Salkić wrote.

He points out that these are just some examples that show the absence of a functional rule of law, which gives citizens the right to believe that we have selective and tendentious justice directed towards targeted individuals or groups that need to be punished or disciplined.

"To dispel any doubt, people in the judiciary must prosecute all those who are working to undermine the constitutional order, who practice discrimination, spread religious and national hatred, who engage in corruption, abuse of office, as well as any other form of crime," he states.

Salkić emphasizes that with a selective approach, it is clear that the already low level of trust among citizens in an independent and just judiciary in our homeland is being undermined.

"While waiting for the rule of law to become functional, Bosniaks in the RS entity will continue to suffer systemic discrimination, insults, and humiliation, genocide denial, glorification of war criminals in textbooks and public spaces, observe the marking of January 9th as the day of the RS, and listen to the messages of key Bosnian Serb politicians about the implementation of the all-Serbian declaration, the division, and the disappearance of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Such an approach is frustrating and gives citizens the right to believe that some people are unjustly imprisoned, while others undeservedly remain free.

Judicial institutions and employees in the judiciary must show through their actions that they are not part of these processes," Salkić believes.
