Šaljić calls out Uk and KS Government: Abolish the shameful decree that rewards VRS tank crews, snipers, and mortar crews

(Patria) - Member of the Sarajevo Canton (KS) Assembly Jasmin Šaljić (SBiH) called on Prime Minister Nihad Uk and the KS Government to annul the amendment to the Decree on the manner of realizing assistance for sustainable return from June 13, 2024.

"This shameful regulation (Decree) allows the Sarajevo Canton, i.e., the citizens of the Canton, to renovate the houses of those who brutally destroyed their houses, apartments, and factories.

Those who burned, shelled, and killed innocent citizens and who held us under siege for almost four years without electricity, water, food, and firewood," Šaljić stated.

He also called on the relevant ministry to annul the public call for 2025, which is currently underway with a planned amount of 440,000 KM.

"It was issued based on this shameful decision of the Sarajevo Canton Government, which, by amending the Decree, allowed members of the so-called Army of Republika Srpska to also apply for funds (read: money) from the citizens of the Canton.

While in the Republika Srpska entity they are erasing the property of returnees from land registries and cadastres with constant threats of confiscation, and charging prisoners of war who survived unimaginable psychological and physical torture and suffered permanent trauma, the authorities are sending them bills to pay for their accommodation in camps as if they were in a four-star hotel.

For those who filed lawsuits, penalties were calculated with default interest ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 convertible marks.

At the same time, the Sarajevo Canton Government is enacting a regulation that returnees to the Sarajevo Canton from the areas of Biosko, Hreša, Borija, Paljevo, Bojnik, Dobroševići, Ahatovići, who left these areas in 1996 after heavily shelling Sarajevo, can apply."

They left these areas because they obeyed the orders of the then military and political leadership.

With this new regulation from the Sarajevo Canton Government, they can apply and receive materials for house reconstruction, and along with reconstruction, they receive a nice financial injection of 10,000 KM.

I am also addressing the Association of Civilian Victims of War, which has more than 50,000 members, to speak out regarding this shameful decision of the Sarajevo Canton Government.

I am addressing my fellow assembly members in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly from the Trojka parties, with the assembly members who form the majority and who appointed the current Sarajevo Canton Government, and I ask them if they were aware of this shameful decision?

And do they support rewarding tank crews, snipers, and mortar crews from the aforementioned locations?

I am not addressing military associations, as you can see in the text. The Coordination of Veterans' Associations in the Sarajevo Canton is in disarray.

They held a meeting in the Sarajevo Canton Government building two days ago regarding this decision, presented completely different views, argued, and shouted so loudly that security warned they would call the police.

The session was interrupted; half of the members were in favor of reacting to the Government to abolish this shameful decision, while the other half did not mind because they did not want to spoil relations with the Government, as the grant intended for the Coordination could be jeopardized.

Those from SABNOR - random passers-by - were abstained, as always. It is known who represented what, you would be surprised? But we will leave that to the Coordination for some more time.

I am also addressing you, the citizens, as a member of the Assembly of the Canton, because I have no choice but to raise your voice to abolish this shameful and unreasonable Decision of the KS Government, even if it concerns only one case," Šaljić stated in a post on his Facebook profile.
